MAX AGE LIMIT
Passenger cars must be less than 8 years old from the date of manufacture. Small trucks must be less than 4 years old to ensure compliance. Vehicles older than 4 years typically incur an age surcharge on the Excise Tax, increasing the total cost.
DRIVE SIDE & DELIVERY
Guyana drives on the left (RHD). We deliver directly to Port Georgetown. Transit times are typically 4–6 weeks.
MANDATORY INSPECTION New 2025 Regulation

- Engine 1801cc – 2000cc: 40% Customs Duty + US$6,500 Excise Tax
- Engine 2001cc – 3000cc: 70% Customs Duty + US$13,500 Excise Tax
- Engine > 3000cc: 100% Customs Duty + US$14,500 Excise Tax

CUSTOMS DUTY
Duty rates vary significantly based on engine size, ranging from 10% for small engines up to 100% for luxury large-engine vehicles.
EXCISE TAX
A specific fixed tax is applied based on engine capacity (cc). This ranges from US$4,200 for economy cars up to US$14,500 for large engines.
VALUE ADDED TAX (VAT)
A standard 14% VAT is applicable on specific vehicle categories, including those over 4 years old (1500cc–2000cc) and heavy commercial trucks
