While Japanese RHD cars were once common, the market has shifted toward Japanese-brand LHD models (often sourced from LHD markets) and a rapidly growing Electric Vehicle sector. Before the Car Leaves Japan

- License Application: Apply for an Import License via the Department of Trade (valid for 180 days).
- Shipment: Most cars are shipped to Yangon Port or Thilawa Port via Singapore or direct LHD shipping routes.
- Customs Declaration: Your agent submits the declaration through the MACCS (Myanmar Automatic Cargo Clearance System).
- Duty Payment: Pay the Commercial Tax and any applicable Special Consumption Taxes (SCT).
- RTAD Registration: Complete the final registration with the Road Transport Administration Department to get your “YGN” or regional plates
